Guidelines for Behavioral Objectives

  1. Begin each objective with an "action verb" which depicts definite, observable behavior.

      "identify", "formulate", "list", "describe", "recall"

  2. State each objective in terms of student performance rather than teacher performance.

  3. State each objective as a learning product (outcome or terminal behavior) rather than in terms of the learning process.

  4. State only one outcome or behavior in each objective.

  5. Make objectives clear, brief and unambiguous.

  6. Start a set of behavioral objectives for a lesson with a phrase such as: "At the end of the lesson the student will be able to:"

  7. Do not include trivial objectives.
